Every Lego Star Wars Set Retiring 2024

Published 19th June 2024

Every year a selection of the current Lego library has to be retired to open up slots for the new releases. When sets are retiring, it becomes all the more common to find them on sale. This could mean any sets you've been meaning to pick up may be available for a great price, or any sets that you've been unsure about picking up are finally at a price that makes them a reasonable purchase.

There are a few variables that are taken into account when sets are selected to be retired including popularity, years available, set origin, and a few others. Most Star Wars sets are on shelves for an average of 2 years, although some may last a lot less time or significantly more (UCS Millenium Falcon).

It's important to remember that even though a set is retiring in December if it sells out months earlier, there is no guarantee that it will be made available again. If there any any sets you are desperate to buy before they retire definitely don't leave it to the last minute! Once sets are retired they have a tendency to go up in value on the second-hand market (depending on their popularity and demand).

Without further ado, here are my 5 favourite sets I'm sad to see go, and a list of all retiring Lego sets in 2024.

1. UCS AT-AT (75313)

The instantly recognisable UCS AT-AT has to be one of the best UCS sets ever made available by Lego. This Minifigure scale model has a complete interior, boasting incredible detail, making it the ultimate Lego display piece. This monstrous model includes 9 minifigures including an exclusive Captain Veers and snow trooper commander alongside 5 regular snow troopers, 2 AT-AT pilots and Luke Skywalker. Also included are 2 speeder bikes and an e-web blaster all of which have allocated spots to be stored accurately inside the model.

As expected, a set of this calibre comes with a hefty price tag of £734.99 and has only been available for 3 years, just a fraction of the time the UCS Millenium Falcon has been available (7 years)! Considering they are both classic original trilogy sets, I thought the AT-AT may have been graced with more time.

2. Mos Eisley Cantina (75290)

The second set I'm sad to see go will be 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina. This Iconic Master Builder Series set boasts one of the largest and most diverse selections of Minifigures ever! With 21 characters included, many of which are exclusive and have exclusive moulds to this set, it's a hard set to miss out on.

The Cantina can be displayed both open and closed and allows you to recreate a variety of classic scenes from the film with all your favourite characters (many of which will probably not be appearing in the foreseeable future). Not only do you get the Cantina, but you also get a Jawa's workshop, a couple of unique speeders and a moulded Dewback! Once again Mos Eisley Cantina is on the more expensive end at £344.99 but a must-have for any Minifigure fans!

3. Mandalorian Fang Fighter vs. TIE Interceptor (75348)

As a fan of the Original Trilogy, I was over the moon to see the release of the Tie Interceptor. Appearing for a very limited time in Return of The Jedi, but gaining far more screen time in the Mandalorian S3 the Tie Interceptor was released as a vs set with a Mandalorian fang fighter (even though we never got to see them battle in the series). The Tie Interceptor is also in scale with the now-retired 75300 Tie Fighter and 75347 Tie Bomber, which will be available for another year. These three sets create a perfect display for imperial ships.

Although for me the Tie Interceptor is the star of the show here, the Fang fighter looks to be a great build for those Mandalorian fans, although I would have preferred if these sets could have been purchased separately.

The Mandalorian Fang Fighter vs. TIE Interceptor retails for £89.99, although I expect you will be able to find this set discounted throughout the year and would be a great pickup for any Original Trilogy or Mandalorian fans.

4. Emperor's Throne Room Diorama 75352

The diorama series is potentially my favourite sub-theme to have been released since I started collecting again as an adult. The opportunity to own and display my favourite scenes as official Lego sets is something I have literally always wanted.

It was a tough decision to choose between both The Emperor's Throne Room Diorama and the 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama for this list, however, feel the the emperor's throne room perfectly encapsulates the most climactic scene from the original trilogy! I love how the display is minimalist yet, has enough detail to to make it instantly recognisable for fans. For these reasons, it's a set I'll definitely be picking up before December.

5. 332nd Ahsoka's Clone Trooper Battle Pack 75359

The last set on my list is the 332nd Battle Pack. This set made my list more due to nostalgia than for the set itself. Having grown up with The Clone Wars TV series, I couldn't have been more excited when season 7 was released in 2020 on Disney+ finally wrapping up the series in the best way imaginable! For this reason, the 332nd clones hold a special place in my heart for their role in the final few episodes.

It's definitely worth noting that the clone minifigures over the past few years have divided the Lego Star Wars community due to quality issues, lack of fabric camas and helmet holes. While I believe that we the consumers should be getting the best version of the clones from Lego (especially for the price) and can completely understand why people are upset about such issues, I personally collect Lego (Star Wars specifically) for the nostalgia it gives me. Therefore I am willing to overlook the downsides and appreciate them for the joy they ignite.

Although the 332nd battle pack is being retired, the 501st battle pack has survived another year, so for any clone fans you can still build your 501st collections for a little bit longer.
